Getting from Lisbon to Seville?
We are planning a trip to Lisbon and Seville in May. We were originally planning to rent a car to travel from Lisbon to Seville, but they seem to be booked (would have to be an automatic car). Any suggestions on the best way to get to Seville from Lisbon? We're considering the overnight train from Lisbon to Madrid and then taking the train down to Seville. Thanks in advance.

There's at least one bus Company that does that route. When I did it, it was a Eurolines (Viajes Julia) bus and it took about 9-hours (incl. 1-hr meal stop). http://www.eurolines.es . Another bus route would be Lisbon-Faro, then a Damas bus Faro-Huelva-Sevilla. The overnight Hotel Tren + AVE would be much more expensive.

We're going the same route in a few days. We bought a $99 air voucher that flies from Lisbon to Malaga, Spain, which is not that far from Seville. The voucher is offered at europebyair.com. The airlines that they use for that flight is Portugalia.
Before you commit yourself to the air voucher, ask what days and times they have available for that route. Typically the airlines will save 4 to 8 seats per flight to use with an air voucher. When you purchase the voucher, you can reserve your flight at the same time. Our voucher arrived in the mail about 1 week later. The regular price for that flight is almost $350. Hope this helps.

Hello All,
I am also planning a trip to Seville and Lisbon this year. We would prefer not to take the bus to get from Seville to Lisbon, but it looks like our only rail option would be to go from Seville to Madrid, then Madrid to Lisbon. Does anyone know how long each segment will take? Thanks!

I've done this journey via Faro. From Lisboa, take a boat to Barreiro to connect with the train to Faro (www.cp.pt), then either get a bus to Sevilla (www.damas-sa.es or www.eva-bus.com), or continue by train or bus to Vila Real Santo Antonio, then get a bus, taxi or ferry across the river to Ayamonte, then on by Damas bus to Sevilla. It's an interesting journey, using a variety of transport, but will take a day; the journey via Madrid will be easier but more expensive. Spanish rail schedules are on www.renfe.es, or schedules for all of Europe are on www.bahn.de.
