Here is the link for Danish railways.

You might have to go to Copenhagen central station and change and might have to change again in Aarhus.

Or rent a car and drive yourself. Driving in Denmark is not difficult.

http://highways-denmark.com/ferry-odden-ebeltoft/

Info on the ferry from Sjaelland to Jutland.

http://www.mols-linien.dk/ this is the site to book it but the English translation doesn't look good. You can take a rental car on the ferry.

You could also take the train to Copenhagen Central station, there are a few trains to choose from. Before you enter the platform at the airport there is a ticket counter, they should be able to guide you. Which train could depend on when you arrive

From CCS, take a train to Valby station. The normal trains (S-train) is easiest here. Same ticket as the one from the airport. It's a 3 zone ticket, and that's 36 DKK.

Next to the station in Valby you can take bus "Linje 888" (the bus Company is called Abildskou)
The bus takes the ferry from Odden to Ebeltoft. I can't see an english page from my phone, maybe it exists in a non-phone browser... http://m.abildskou.dk/#timetables-bookinginfo

You can buy the ticket when boarding (ferry is included) but it is more expensive.
I did a search on a random date, the adult ticket was 310 DKK and if you are a student 150.

Thanks for all the replies. I don't have a driving license yet. I will have to rely on public transport.

Then I would suggest taking LBird's suggestions otherwise it will be a 5 hour trip at least if you go via Aarhus.
