Getting a Taxi after the Opera in Rome
Will it be easy? Will I need to go to a taxi stand? If so, does anyone know where the closest one is to Teatro dell'Opera di Roma? Actually, in general do you need to go to a taxi stand, or can you flag one down? Thanks for any information.

In general, you need to go to a taxi stand in order to get a cab in Rome, but I've always had no trouble flagging one down. I imagine that there will be cabs lined up at the opera house after the performance, but if not, walk up three blocks to Termini station and there will be plenty of cabs there. Or, you can walk two blocks to the Repubblica metro station and take that.

Susan --- You can pre-book your taxi during intermission at the Opera in Rome; that's what I did when I was there for a ballet a couple of years ago. There is a desk set up where you ask for a taxi. They give you a slip of paper with the taxi ID then when you leave, you look for that taxi. Most people wanting taxis seemed to do this.

A quick google search returns
www.operaroma.it/
Most of the site is in Italian only, however, the Services (I Servizi) pages are also in English. There you can find box office hours of operation including phone and fax numbers along with a list of ticket outlets in Rome and other Italian cities, and links to several internet ticket outlets.

ghiadrvr, I used www.charta.it, which I read about at slowtrav.com. Click on English at the top of the page and go through and choose where it says all events (or something to that effect). Once you go through and select your performance and seat category, the computer automatically chooses the best available seat and then shows a seating chart with a red dot to show where your seat is. You will get an email confirmation.
