NOW THIS is a COMMUNITY!

Wouldn't it be great if we could click onto the Travel Talk page and find a listing of scheduled Fodorite gatherings from around the world? That way, when your'e away from home, wherever that might be, you could find your homies and make contact.

David Downing, Community Coordinator, what do you think? Can the Europhiles be coordinated?

Dr. Betty

I'm in for a Chicago get together. I work downtown right on the Chicago River. There are tons of fun places to choose from. We could do tea at the Four Seasons or there is the 95th Club in the John Hancock. It has a wonderful view and great food. Sounds like fun! Who wants to organize? I'd be happy to help.
Beth

Hi Joy, I started having "fodorites" get togethers when I met several others in Paris last May 1999. I know that there have been others. I have them almost every month. Even had one in NYC where Dawn, Maira, and I met the marketing person at Fodors.

Beth, I'm planning on having a luncheon this Saturday in Bethesda and will email you directly with the information.

I met Joy for drinks in Paris the other night. Had a very nice time talking about our trips.

March 4th sounds fine. What about in Nicholsons, the Scottish pub/restaurant, that would make me feel at home (complete with outrageous prices, just like Edinburgh!)

the 3rd is probably a day early - I dont arrive from Newark until after 7pm and unless I intraveneously inject myself with raw coffee, I think I would be dribbling into the soup by 8.30.

This is cool, do we get to wear badges ie 'Hi, I AM TONY' ??

I know...it's strange....we just wimped out. And I know Linda is up in/near Dallas. Yooohooo, Linda....and others. Janis in my own work place is a fodorite and she and I can come to a bash together. And then there's Anna 2.5 hours south of Houston....surely many many more.

Tony, on one of your trips to the US, you really should come visit Texas. It
is a hoot. Quite unique, as you might expect. Surely you are going to see
more than NJ?!?!
BTW, I tried to send this message to your msn.com email address and it bounced back, Mr. Stellarossa!

Well, to continue Richard's line of thinking, if we want to go to MY mom's house y'all (can you believe I typed 'you guys' first?? what's this state coming to?) are going to have to come to Austin.

Proposed meeting sites:
Center of the Capitol rotunda
Bar at the Menger Hotel in SA
Cafe at IKEA in Houston--we could have Swedish meatballs and pretend we're elsewhere
Fredericksburg Brewing Company, F'burg

kk, Pam, Janis, et al; I will be in Houston 1/25-27 for seminars at the JW Marriott (Westheimer and 610). Is this a possible time for a Fodor-do? A suggestion, meet at Pappadeaux, or whatever? My wife needs to arrange time off so kindly post your replies ASAP, I'm self employed so that's not a problem for me.

Tammy
We could make it March 4th, no problem. Are we still planning on the Omni? There are two restaurants there, the Cafe at the Palm Court and Orchids. I've never been to either but the Palm Court seems to be more my speed.
Any others interested in joining us in Cincinnati?

Pam, what do you think? Can you make Houston in Jan.25-27, 2001--sometime in that time frame?
I am going to start a separate thread, as Chicago has done. That should take our little Texas "flurry" away and make things tidier.
I also think I will see if Dr. Betty Fordor wants to come join us from her base a little farther north.
