Pam, somehow I don't think Richard is going to like the Bryan/College Station idea. I have to go up there all the time for work, though.
I could do San Antonio, on the right weekend, since my mom lives near and I could, er, kill two birds with one drive, er, stone.

Oh, kk, I don't know...B/CS would be a cultural experience.... Isn't that what traveling is all about? SA is good; I'm down there quite a bit. Glad you were kidding about Waco, though we mustn't forget the Dr. Pepper Museum or the Texas Ranger Museum...or the Browning Library. Texans/those passing thru, email me privately if you prefer.

That hotel is the Omni Netherland Plaza (appropriate name for a gathering of Euro-philes) - - see the web page www.cincyusa.com/pages/content/pr0300d.html for more info on Art deco in Cincinnati.

kk, Pam, If you want to combine this with a home visit, my wife's Mom lives in Lubbock. How 'bout we meet in Muleshoe, Levelland or Notrees. My kids are UT Austin grads so CS is out, big time (to coin a phrase). No take on N'Orleans, eh? By the by, I'm a Yankee so I'm parroting my wife's suggestions.

Re: Cincinnati meeting
It would be great to meet some fodors regulars when Tony gets to town, what a way to kick off our three month road trip! Not sure which day would be better...his flight gets in late on March 3 so maybe sunday the 4th, we could meet for lunch or drinks.
If these dates don't work, my schedule is pretty open (until March), I'll just come solo.
Richard,
How about Perryton, Dumas or Darrouzett? And re: B/CS, there is the Bush museum...and being from Plano, you're probably Republican.
How about the bar in the Menger Hotel, in San Antonio--the bar Teddy Roosevelt supposedly rode into on his horse--? It's small and it would be easy to locate each other, plus we could go have our picture taken in front of that icon, the Alamo, and send it to Danny @ fodors in NYC. Whatcha think?
