I was genuinely trying to be helpful and friendly to Lydel, especially it was obvious that people had already been unkind to her.
I see how my very simplified remarks could have been taken as sarcastic, but they were not intended as such. I only hoped to simplify and explain the whole thing for her, in a spirit of helpfulness.
We were discussing Europe, not any other regions of the world, where as you said, the conditions can be very different.
