Germany/Poland Rental Car
My husband and I will arrive in Berlin next April and want to spend about 2 weeks in Germany and then another 4 weeks in Poland before returning to Berlin to fly out. We have already booked the flight. My question is if we can rent a car in Germany for our time there and then drive it to Poland. We will also be renting for more than 30 days. Can someone let us know how to best do this?

Yes, you can rent in Germant and drive in Poland.
AutoEurope would be my choice, and would only consider the "Zero deductible with Super cover" rate.
Since 2022 we have a car, registered in Poland, and I would advise you to get a dashcam, especially for the Polish part of the trip.

Maybe take a train into Poland after your stay in Germany, rent a Polish car return it and train back?
Some rental companies still have restrictions on taking cars into the former Eastern bloc or limit the type of car you can take.
Best bet though is to talk to a rental company and see what they say.

You can rent a car in Germany and drive into Poland (needs to be informed at the time of booking, usually incurs a cross border fee) and exceed 30 days. I'm at the end of a long trip to Germany and Poland myself. We rented with Sixt (via AutoEurope) for Germany (my itinerary was focused outside the big cities) and relied on trains to get to and around Poland (focused on major cities). I would carefully flesh out the itinerary in detail to assess : 1. Do you need a car at all given rail connectivity in Germany & Poland 2. Will you return the car in Berlin - these are very long driving distances to and within Poland. Returning the car in Poland will incur a steep drop off charge.

I have rented cars in Germany where it was expressly forbidden to drive into Poland (always read the fine print). You can do it but must tell them upfront. German cars are highly sought after in the former Eastern Bloc - legally as well as illegally, we once (legally) sold a car in Germany that was bought by what I think was Russian mafia - my husband took the buyer downstairs to our cellar to get the winter tyres and the guy pressed money into my husband's hand when they were out of view, wasn't interested in the tyres, didn't want to talk, just wanted to get the car onto the back of a trailer in a big hurry and get out of there. It was a weird experience. We know the car was destined for somewhere else, likely in the east. It wasn't an amazing car, but solid and reliable. We also know someone in Brussels, a French guy who used to go to Germany and buy German cars. pimp them and sell them in France. So German cars are quite a thing abroad, but the rental car companies are worried that your car will be stolen from some countries. I think they make adjustments to the insurance, which is why you tell them first.

I think that if the OP chooses a lower cost car it is unlikely that he will have a German made car. Over the years, we rented cars in Germany which included an Ibiza, a Renault and a KIA
We also rented a car in Poland with no problem.
All these rentals were pre-Covid and prices and rules may have changed since then.

That sounds like an awesome trip! I’ve done something similar before. You can usually rent a car in Germany and drive it to Poland, but it’s good to check with the rental company about cross-border rules. Renting for over 30 days might be tricky since some companies treat it like a long-term lease.
On one trip, we used a bus company for part of the journey, and honestly, it was so much easier. No stress about border rules or drop-off fees, and we got to just sit back and relax. Might be worth considering for part of your trip. Sounds like you’ve got a great adventure ahead!

Being able to claim bodily injuries that keep them out of the army is a bonus.
