Germany - Doll Houses, etc.

My family and I love the German Doll Houses, miniature furniture and such that go in the doll houses, wooden toys, ravensburger puzzles and baby dolls. I grew up with them and as a 32 year old, still love them.

My husband and I will be traveling in parts of Germany (Mosel Valley, Romatic Road, Bavaria and Cologne) and would love to hear from those of you who have experienced any great toy shops, etc., that are memorable and worth a visit.

I've read a bit about the doll museum in Rothenburg. I've researched this on Fodors and a few other sites .. but not much comes up.

Thanks!

I ran across this Munich store online:
Kunst und Spiel
Leopoldstr. 49
Schwabing
Munich
089-3816270

It is supposed to have a good range of wooden and educational toys.

St. Goar is in the most scenic part of the Rhine Gorge, not far south of Koblenz; there on a narrow back street near the center of town you'll find a doll museum with thousands of dolls (Puppen), bears, toys, and the like. Ask for the "Puppen- und Bärenmuseum" - there's only one!

Puppen- und Bärenmuseum
Sonnengasse 8
56329 St. Goar
Tel.: 06741-3270
Öffnungszeiten:
01.04.-30.12
10.00-17.00 Uhr
Eintritt: 2,- Euro

Hi
I don't know if you will be near Alsfeld, but there is the spielzeugmuseum at Kirchplatz 9. We stopped off several years ago and still have the poster hanging in the house. Very good museum for toys and dolls and dollhouses.

Check out weather houses, too. I have one from the German part of Switzerland, a woman comes out for good weather, a man for bad. We check it daily

There is a nice little toy museum (Spielzeugmuseum) in the old Rathaus tower, right on the Marienplatz in Munich.

I second quokka's toy museum in Nürnberg - they have reproductions of antique toys for sale in their shop, and some are quite affordable. Nice souvenirs.
