Gent Jazz Festival

We are working on a trip to Belgium over the summer and have the opportunity to be in Gent/Ghent during their Jazz Festival (thinking of spending 4 nights). We are big jazz fans so obviously it's a draw for us, but will be traveling with 2 small children and unfortunately won't be staying out very late this trip to enjoy the nightly performances. Does anyone have insight on how much more crowded the city is during the days of the festival? Will it be significantly less enjoyable to travel here during this time, or doesn't it get too too crowded? Thank you! Also would love to hear any other opinions of the festival too!
