Genoa question for GAC

Hi GAC: I read your responses re: Genoa airport transportation tips and had a question for you. I fly to Italy several times a year, generally flying into Milan's Malpensa airport (MXP); however, in February I have decided to fly directly into Genoa's Cristoforo Colombo airport. I looked at the airport site and there is a "Volabus line 100" that leaves from Genoa to the city center. I need to get directly to the Principe train station (not Brignole station).

Have you taken this airport bus before? And if so, how long does it take to get to Principe? Where does this bus depart from at the airport - near baggage claim? Any help you might give me is greatly appreciated - thanks!

Huitres - I think GAC missed this, - will I do instead?

The Volabus takes 25 mins from airport to Principe station. You can find timetables here. There are deps every 30 mins.

As I recall, it leaves from right outside the airport entrance.
Tickets € 2.07 from the driver.

Hope this helps ...

Hi Steve: Thank you so much for your response -- I am grateful for the info. I went to the Genoa airport last year with some family friends to pick up lost (read: re-routed from Milan) baggage, but was not sure where/when the buses would leave if I ever had to manage the airport on my own with public transportation. Grazie mille!

Here I am. Steve has answered your question. FYI, Genova is the "backup airport" for big planes when Malpensa is fogged in: planes are re-routed to Genova several times each year, and its runway can accommodate them.

Fare update : Single adult fare is € 3.00.
I'd rely on the transport company website for timetables

Hi Huitres - Just a footnote, though you probably already know this.

Principe is NOT the last stop for the Volabus. Don't miss your stop - as I nearly did (- or you will end up at Brignole).

Thanks again Steve (and the others): I always take trains (not planes) from Milano to Genova, then down to Liguria. My route is always the same; however, this time I will be starting at Genoa's airport so the Volabus info is extremely important. Thanks for the footnote re: the Principe stop - I might have ended up at Brignole!
