Geneva to Paris for a day trip

I understand that the high speed French train, can't remember the name, goes between Geneva and Paris.
What are the forum's thoughts on doing a quick day trip from Geneva to Paris?

The TGV takes 3.5 hours each way plus time getting to and from train stations so that would be 8 hours of travel. It wouldn't be worth while for me.

You could take a night train each way and then have a whole day in Paris but that would depend on if you could get enough rest on a train and if you are willing to take a sponge bath in the train washroom. I sleep fine on trains but I would want a shower.

It's called TGV. It's a high speed train, but still 4+ hours each direction Geneva to Paris, so not really practical as a "day trip" imo.

There are so many wonderful day trips from Geneva I just can't imagine going to this much time, trouble and expense for a few hours in Paris. If you need ideas for day trips from Geneva you will find a lot of good help on this board. Save Paris for another trip.
