Geneva Restaurant

We will be in Geneva on either side of our hiking trip to Switzerland,Italy and France.
Can you recommend a low or moderate price restaurant?

Geneva is a very large city, do you know what part you'll be staying in?

I enjoyed the Manora on rue de Cornavin, a few blocks SSE from the station. It's a big buffet style place where you walk around to different stations for veggies, meats, fish, salads, deserts, etc. They'll grill the steak you pick out. Unique. Reasonable.

Since you are asking for moderate to low, a Chinese place at Place Longemalle (I forget the name, next to Sushi train restaurant) has many 1 dish meals (rice and meat, rice and fish for example for CHF10 - 15. That's relatively cheap for Geneva. I forget the name of the place but it is on the same side of the lake as Rotisserie. Very close to flower clock and Bucherer watch shop and on a small steet.

When I eat out inexpensive, often that's Italian. I pay average total CHF30-40, including a salad, pizza or pasta, perhaps a glass of wine or two. Since i don't eat in the area of your hotel, I really cannot tell about the quality/price but there is one called Molino(?) at Place Molard between Rotisserie and above Chinese place. Actually it's very close to the street where your hotel is. It's not really cheap, just moderate for Geneva. If you need to eat cheap, there are many Chiniese/Thai 1 dish meal places like the one I mentioned above especially around the railway station (so not particularly close to your hotel but 20 min walk).

Manora mentioned above by one poster is also close to the railway station. It's a part Placette department store and used to be on the groud floor but they moved it to the 4th floor. So it must not be open for dinner when the store is closed. There seems no acces. During the day you can get a great view there over a bit of French mountains with a glimpse of Mont Blanc and St Pierre Cathedral. The ground floor where Manora used to be is now partly under constrcution + smaller self service cafeteria is open. There sort of sandwiches and salad buffet are available. I don't know if they put Manora self service back to the ground floor once the construction is over.
