Yes, you can get a Thameslink train from Gatwick to London Bridge and then change to a Connex train to Charring Cross.

I suppose it all depends uopn your definition of "easier." If I'm reading the Tube map correctly, going from Victoria to Charing Cross would require a transfer at Embankment in addition to the one you will have just made at Victoria going from train to Tube. The Thameslink train combined with the Connex train would mean only one transfer between Gatwick and Charing Cross.

The transfer at London Bridge station is easy as both the Thameslink and Connex trains use the same platform - number 6 - the Connex trains are also very frequent into Charing Cross roughly every 4/5 minutes depending on the time of day.

David - true - but unless terry's final destination is in Charing Cross Station, he will still have to schlepp luggage.
If he is trying to get to a hotel/apartment near Charing Cross, the Express/cab would still be easiest since the taxi would drop them at the door.
