Gas prices in Ireland?

We're heading out on a driving tour of Ireland soon and were trying to plan our expenses. How much is gas going for these days, and will we need cash or will most stations take ccs?

I wouldn't use cash there, I just used my CC and it was fine. Seems like it was over 3 Euros when I was there in March, but I never wanted to slow my cash flow by paying cash for gas.

Answer is here:

http://www.aaireland.ie/petrolprices/

Good, general purpose site for route info and planning, to boot!

Don't forget that MPG will be MUCH higher relative to comarable US vehicles ...

If 1 US gallon = 3.8 liters at 1.327 Euro per lier, then petrol is approx 5.04 Euro per US gallon.

At 1 Euro equal to about $1.25 US, that 1 US gallon runs at or about $8.30.

Fuel is sold in litres. Current price, which varies between locations, is around 1.30 euro/litre ($6/US Gal) for unleaded and 1.20 euro/litre ($5.60/US Gal) for diesel. It can vary by about 3 cents higher or lower. Almost all fuel stations take credit cards, and thankfully, DCC is rare.

The prices are right but like someone said above the MPG is much higher! In a two week trip where we circumnavigated the country from Dublin to Dublin we used the equivilant of 3 tanks of gas. This includes touring the Dingle Penninsula, country roads, city driving etc.

We returned on June 15 and unleaded gas ran about 1.33 euros a litre. We traveled around the country, and I was surprised at how little the price changed from place to place. I'm used to driving an hour away and the price can be up to .10 cents per gallon lower!

We were in Ireland for nine days at the very end of May and beginning of June. We drove a total of about 900 km in a manual Ford Focus. The prices were around 1.30 euros per litre.

In total we spent 88.29 euros on petrol.

I forgot to add that we paid with a credit card at all the gas stations.

Thanks, all! It sounds like it might not be as expensive as I feared.
