Gas cards in Ireland

I did a search on this site and found several discussions about gas stations taking credit cards, i.e., visa, mc, amex. No one mentioned using actual gas cards. What brands of gas are there? Exxon, BP, Mobil, etc?

I'm not aware that there are gas company cards any longer. My Exxon card was changed to a visa (by them) about 5 years ago as was my Mobil. No choice - it just happened.

I am not sure they exist in Ireland. People use cash, Laser (debit card) or Credit card from my experience over here.

I know that two of the main petrol stations have cards - Texaco and Esso (see www.esso.ie and www.texaco.ie for more info). The cards are mainly used by companies rather than individuals.

No US gas cards will be accepted in Ireland. Only credit cards (Visa, Master), sometimes Amex and Diners, and local debit card.

Last week the average price I saw was 90.9 (Euro) cents per litre; with the weak dollar (vs. the Euro) that comes out to more than $3.50 USD per Gallon.
