Hi swisschocolate -- just a note to say that I'm crazy busy right now. I'll try to take a look at these and give you some idea .. . maybe by Friday. Do you have a deadline to make your decision?

Hi again-

No rush at all! Plus I'm eternally grateful anyway that you're nice enough to even check these out for me.

I'm sure in the meantime I might find another one!

Vielen Dank again for all your assistance and kindness!!

Oh by the way -
I showed all the options to my husband...he is leaning toward the Gastehaus Angela which you recommended above. Wifi is 5 Euro for 3 days, and the location is good.

So right now it is at the top of our list.

Hi again,

I looked at all of the houses, with an eye for location and breakfasts; here are my thoughts -

Gastehaus Angela
Yes, I like this one the best, too. However, one thing I just noticed is that it has a tv-lounge – which may mean that there are no tv’s in the guest rooms. If that is important to you, you may want to verify that.

Fewo Hausler
Excellent location, nearby the pedestrian zone, just on the other side of the Zugsptizstr. But, no breakfasts.

Gasthaus Sissi
Another excellent location. Close enough to the train station to walk to it in a few minutes, and maybe 10 to the pedestrian zone (just on the other side of the Zugspitzstr. on Achenfeldstr). I guess you are thinking of taking one of the rooms so that you can have the buffet breakfast -- it would help if they had a photo of the breakfast. I’ve heard good things about this B&B, but the reviews on Trip Advisor are not great.

Fewo Lissy is pretty far from the train station and the pedestrian zone. It would be about a 15-minute walk to the pedestrian zone and maybe 20-30 minutes to the train station. However, it is right nearby two bus stops on Zugspitzstr. And, of course, no breakfast.

Ferienwohnung-lipf.de has a pretty good location. I mean, it’s another one that’s between the train station and the pedestrian zone, so you can walk to either one in just minutes. However. It’s right on St. Martinstr, and that is a main road in town. And, again no breakfast.

Fewo Harmonie – quite a modern and pretty décor! However, they are all the way at the end of Zugspitzstr, actually right next to the American base. It would take about 30-40 minutes to walk to the pedestrian zone, but it is nearby a bus stop. Again, no breakfast.

Let us know what you decide!

Well we haven't made the reservations yet, but we have decided on the Gastehaus Angela. I haven't checked yet about the TV, but we aren't really concerned if there's one in our room or not.

We are considering now our 2nd destination for a few nights - maybe Hall in Tirol? I know it's not that far away from Garmisch, but it will allow us to make some day trips into Innsbruck and other places in that area. We also wanted something closer to a city just in case we want to explore some museums and historic centers. In Hall we are probably going to stay at the Gasthof Badl - it seems to meet all our requirements.

Thanks again everyone for your help!

We have stayed at the HOTEL HILDEBRANDT about three times. Very nice. Located in a neighborhood not far from town and ice stadium. Rooms 1 or 2 are on the ground floor with a patio. They have a web site to check out the current prices.

On September 21 and 22 this year, we stayed at the Haus Hohenzollern Hotel Garni in Alpspitzstrase which is within easy walking distance (3 minutes?)of Marienplatz. There is also a bus stop within 50 metres which connects to the train station. two of us paid 124 euros for two nights, which we thought was very reasonable. We did NOT have breakfast at the Hotel because there was a bakery next door that more than met our needs.

This place is great with an option for breakfast and is right next to the Ludwigstrasse with its many restaurants but is remarkably quiet, the flats are top notch and renovated regularly. The prices are per flat for 2 people so well under your budget and much cheaper than most hotels or pension rooms.
Have a great holiday.

Hi mrtwtraveler

Hope you see this...just wondering how your trip in January went in Garmisch? And if the apartment now has WiFi?

Attention swandav-

what do you think of this guesthouse?

http://www.alpenkranz.net/de/index.php

I think technically it's in Partenkirchen, but the location seems good.

Hope you are doing well!

Swiss- According to Google maps, the Alpenkranz is within a few blocks of the Bahnhof in Garmisch- so I would suggest it is in Garmisch. The price is about the same as other apartments in the area...

Hi again!

wow, that's a great find! The rooms look so pretty and warm, and the price is great. Did you notice that it's cash only? They won't accept credit cards, if that makes a difference to you.

The location is great. That is a very quiet street, and you'll be next to a sweet little stream. You'll be just steps from the train station and maybe about 7 minutes' walk to the pedestrian zone in Garmisch (walk along Enzianstrasse to avoid the traffic on the busy Bahnhofstrasse and to see typical houses/neighborhood of the town).

Yes, I think this would be a good option!

Hope everything is coming together for you!

Hi again,

No, Travelforbeer, technically the Alpenkranz is in Partenkirchen, as swiss noted. It's on the wrong side of the Bahnhof to be in Garmisch!

Hi swandav2000,

Thank you for correcting me. I always assumed everything Southwest of Hauptstrasse was part of Garmisch. I guess you can still teach old dogs new tricks...
