Garching Germany

I've leased a Renault car for our trip. We arrive in Munich, but the car is in Garching(?). Does anyone know the best way to get there? The agent wasn't too helpful. I guess a taxi is the best way, but I was hoping for something less expensive.

Garching is a northern suburb of Munich, out beyond the beltway. It is on the same side of metropolitan Munich as the international airport.

My guess is that you can take a taxi to Garching for about the same price, or even less, than you take the Metro/Lufthansa bus.

There may be some kind of bus service from the airport to Garching, but I don't know what it is.

If you decide to take the bus/subway route, take the Lufthansa bus to the Nordfriedhof stop. The bus stop is right by the entrance to the U6 subway line. Take the U6 train north to Garching.

It is a round about way because you will be traveling two sides of a big V.

I am estimating that the taxi would not be much more expensive because it is about 60e from downtown Munich out to the airport. Garching is about half as far. You might save $10 to ride the bus and the Ubahn. I am guessing here.

Perhaps someone who knows the F. J. Strauss airport transit situation better than I can help us out.
gb, my wife and I took a taxi from Munich to Garching (BMW Factory) last June. The charge was per car, not per passanger, with a euro or two for our luggage. I don't remember the exact price, but it was reasonable.
