Fussen or Oberammergau?

With 3 nights to spend, would you stay in Fussen or Oberammergau? Recommendations for moderate (not luxury, not budget/sharedbathroom type) places to stay in either place? Thanks for your help.

Garyincary - We are planning a trip to Germany as well, so I can't give you an opinion, but have you looked at posts by doing a search in Germany for the two towns? That should bring up lots of recommendations from experienced Fodorites. Best wishes.

With a car, you have more nearby options in Oberammergau than in Fuessen - - - Oberammergau itself, Wieskirche, Ettal, Schloss Linderhof, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Mittenwald and, of course, Fuessen itself.

Without a car, your options are more limited and I would stick to Fuessen. You may be able to catch a bus tour by a local operator from there to one or two of these places.
