Several years ago I was on top of the Schilthorn in Switzerland and had walked from the observation platform along a rocky, narrow mountain ridge. After walking about a hundred yards along the shaley path I came to a sign that said "high heel shoes not recommended beyond this point". You'd have to really be fashion conscious to be on that mountain path in high heels!!

Once while driving across country we passed the infamous prison near McAlester, Oklahoma. It is an outstandingly ugly place in the middle a very beautiful area. We were discussing that and were well past the prison some 15 miles when we saw a sign saying “Prison Area. Caution, do not pick up hitchhikers.” I broke us up to think about some poor sod cruising along, who’d only stopped 10 miles back and picked up a guy with no luggage. The sign came a little late, one might have expected seeing it BEFORE passing the prison.
