Troll or no troll, I think we should discuss more travel and not too much forum etiquette. Another site (photography) I have used for years was once a place where you risked having your head taken off everytime you asked a question that may have been asked before or may not have been phrased just as others would like. I only stayed around because the site was just too good to leave, and it has greatly improved now. Let's not take this forum in that direction. No one needs to sit back and take insults, but we also need to remember that Fodors users range from first-time travelers and forum users to 50-year travelers and 5-year forum users. If this indeed was a troll, I think we are seeing that too many trolls can ruin the legitimacy of a good site.

It's www.photo.net. It is not quite as free-flowing as it used to be. There are several different forums (or fora to some) from which to choose - nature, general photography, etc. Click on Community to get to them. I think you still have to sign up to post, but it is very simple to do. On this site, you will find a wealth of information in the archives, and the search function is pretty good most of the time. There are also lots and lots of photos by the original creator of the site (Philip Greenspun), photos by users, photos for critique, learning pages, and travelogues. A top notch site all the way around. One thing about etiquette - it is expected that you will look in the archives before asking a question on most of the forums. The users range mostly from serious amateurs to professionals, with a good sprinkling of beginners.

Why not a Globus trip?My mother and I went on a 14 day trip to 11 countries 7 years ago and had a great time. They take care of everything, all you have to do is get up,eat breakfast, and put film in your camera.Their optional excursions go where you want to go.We went on all but one. You can go back another time to one or two places you particularily liked.
