from Milan to Venice?
I have business meetings in Milan until November 5th in the evening and can leave Milan for Venice on the am of the 6th. I have to fly back ot NY form Milan in the late am of the 8th? I was hoping ot visit venice while there...is it doable? Do you have a better suggestion? and how should I travel between the two cities?

Parry, I would suggest train as well. Very easy to just hop on and go. About a 3hr ride. You get right to S Lucia station right in the heart of Venice. You can easily spend 2 good days in Venice seeing the sights. I would stay in the Accademia area or St. Marks Square area. Both are good spots to get around from. Since your in Milan on business I would try the Hotel Ca Pisani in Venice. Good modern rooms, great breakfast too. Right off the Accademia bridge. Have a good trip.

Good afternoon, Patty
Just a thought as the trip from Milano
to Malpensa is about an hour by train
or bus. You might look into flying
from Milano to Venice and depending upon
your home flites departure time, use
the airline from Venice to Milano as a
connecting flite on the morning of your
departure, this would give you two nights in Venice. Might be expensive
however rail alone from Milano to Venice
is fastest is just under three hours...
Richard of LaGrange Park,Il...Having a
later flite will allow you to take the
vaporetto from the vaporetto stop S. Marco to Marco Polo Airport, in just about an hour at a mininal cost.. rjv
Water taxi would be about 6X more..

I agree this is easily do-able and would not consider any option other than the train. The idea of flying from Venice to Milan on the morning of the 8th would save some time (40 minutes vs. 3 hours) but keep in mind that all (almost all?) flights from Venice would arrive at Linate instead of Malpensa and you'll still need an hour or so to get there.
