Are you sure you are sure you are flying into the airport in Florence? It is very small and only takes domestic and some charters. The airport in Pisa is where the majority of flights for Florence come in.

If you are indeed coming into Florence then you will have to get a taxi to the train station in Florence and take the train from there to Pisa. Very short trip. Hope you have a wonderful time!

There ARE international (European) flights in and out of Florence airport. Check your tickets for either the airport name, or look on the part of the ticket where the fare is calculated. This will show the routing using the airline codes. For instance, Washington Dulles to Milan is IAD/MPX. The next airport code will be either "FLR" for Florence (Peretola Airport) or "PSA" (Galileo Galilei Airport).

Having a hard time understanding this whole thing. Pisa airport is located in Pisa! It is much larger than the one in Florence (Firenze, the Italian spelling) and has flights in from many cities in Europe, including a convenient connection from London on BA. Florence's (Firenze) airport is much smaller and the last we were there the only flights from out of Italy were on Alitalia. Several years ago Florence's airport was only charters and private planes, but that has now changed to allow a few Alitalia commercial flights. Hope this helps to explain.
