From FCO to Florence..
hmmm. Long story short, I have to fly into Rome and take the train to Florence. Somebody at RailEurope told me that there's a train from FCO that goes directly to florence, which would save me the trip from the airport to the Termini in Rome itself.
Anyone know ANYTHING about this train? The guy at RailEurope didn't have details (?). It would make my life so much easier, not to mention I would save time and money..
thanks!!

Unless things have changed really recently - you have to take the Leonardo Express to the main train station in Rome and transfer to another train to Florence...yes it would make life easier, but I'm afraid you may have been given erroneous info.

No you cannot. The train service at FCO belongs to the local commuter lines and only serves destinations within Lazio and Roma Termini. To get to Florence you have to change at Termini for Inter-Regio, Intercity or Eurostar train.

As far as I know there is no train from FCO to Florence. We did it last year. We cut it pretty thin by allowing 2.5 hours 3hrs. would give you some space. We got stuck in passport control behind a plane just in from Middle East. Train trip takes appx 1/2 hour, then another 10 minute hike to the main platform where the signs tell you which track your train is on.
Trip is fairly short so 2nd class ticket would be fine. I felt the money we spent on lst was wasted.
