Got one name wrong--sorry. It should be Merenda.

Barry, I was also impressed with dinner at the Chevre d'Or in Eze. Champagne on the patio, incredible view. Great gourmet dinner with attentive service. Expensive, but worth it for a special dinner. Also memorable was dinner at La Mere Germaine in Villefranche Sur Mer - bouliabasse just steps from the water.

Margot I neglected to mention the places from the Times are in Nice.

I too am a fan of La Colombe D'Or in St. Paul de Vence but some people go and are disappointed in the simple country food. It's the totality of the experience that makes it special; the location, the art, the inn, the views.

Thanks Fodorites for sharing such great info! I've been collecting San Fran food lists and am adding French Riviera. Yummmm!

La Chevre d'Or in Eze was the best meal I ever had. 2nd was Le Columbe D'Or in St. Paul de Vence.

I've stayed at the Colombe D'Or twice but I would not call it Country food!

Hello to you all. I too had the most wonderful dining experience a few years ago at the Chevre D'Or in Eze. We sere served canapes and champagne on a terrace overlooking the Baie des Anges while being entertained by a string quartet. The 10 course menu degustation that followed was out of this world. I am returning to Nice at the end of November and would love to kow what this dining experience costs these days. I remember it was expensive but entirely worth it at the time. Just wondering what inflation has done to the cost now. Thanks for any response.
