Has anyone used the "What kind of food am I?"
book for translating the french menu? I read on other posts that alot of people like the Marling Menu Master. I picked up another book at the store but when I tried to translate a menu (on the web) that was in french - I couldn't figure any of it out. So back to the store-for the best one this time! Thanks

Try www.travelersmenureader.com. They have menu translators for different languages for $4.00 that fold up to CC card size.

I like the food glossary in Patricia Wells book--A Food Lover's Guide to Paris. I took the Marling our last trip and found it lacking and difficult to use. The Wells' list is totally alphabetical (not by entree,plat,dessert, etc) so you can find exactly what it is being served to you.

I have used the "What food am I" books for France and Italy and have found them to be invaluable. I rarely found a menu item that was not in the book. It is small, fit in my little purse and included beverages as well as food. I tried a different book series for Germany but did not like it as well. I recommend them highly.

Thank you everyone-I have decided to order the Eating and Drinking in Paris-What kind of food am I. I used this series for Italy and really liked it. I am also printing out the intimatefrance.com. I found the Patricia Wells book really big to carry around (was there a tear out section in this book?). Thanks for the input!
