Four days between Marseilles and Barcelona -- What to Do?
We're flying in to Marseilles on a thursday in mid-May and need to be on the Costa Brava near Barcelona four days later. Trying to figure out what to do in between. We've traveled a bit in the area (mostly the Luberon, St. Tropez/Cannes area, and Collioure) and pretty much loved it all -- but it's been a while and we're looking for inspiration. Where would you go? Inland to Provence, Cassis, something else? We'll be jetlagged with a 7 year old, so someplace to chill, eat great food, wander, etc. sounds great. Would love your suggestions, including nice hotel recommendations (not off the chart pricey, but no need for total bargains either). Thanks a million!

OK, there are myriad possibilities, of course, but if you haven't been to the Camargue, I'd start there. Your 7-year-old might like the flamingos and other wild life, and you might even get lucky with a sighting of one of the local cowboys. And there's acres of red rice fields, and sand wine vineyards, and Aigues-Mortes is a gorgeous little place. That might be far enough to go on the first day.
After that, you might check out Montpellier (vibrant university town), Sète (nice sandy beaches) and Bouzigues (oysters on the beach). That would keep you busy for a couple of days.
And then you could veer off the coast a bit and visit Carcassonne, then head back to the Costa Brava.
