Formula and Flouride questions for France

Is the tap water fine for mixing baby formula or do I need to buy bottled water? And does anyone know if it is flourinated? (spelling?)

Hi islandmom, I do not know if the water in France has floride (I don't know how to spell it correctly either) in it but I have a thought.

Often travllers have problems due to unfamilier water. Be it tap or bottled.
I wonder what other parents do in this case. Water can have minerals etc. that ones body is not use to. I would imagine for a little one this could be especially bad.

Have you talked to your baby's Peditrician? I think that is what I would do. And hopefully someone else will post here with some good advice.

Water is sometimes fluoridated and sometimes not. (How do you spell that ?) Best bet, I would think is bottled water.

LOL, someone, one of us, needs to pull out our dictionary. Oh well, I am sure the spelling police will advise us sooner or later!

Only use bottled water to be absolutely sure your baby is 100% protected from any organisms which could upset the digestive tract. Rinsing or cleaning the bottles could be done with boiling tap water to which you have added Milton. Don't take chances which could mean terrible discomfort for the child and of course medication.
Fluoride is correct spelling, but why are you concerned about it being in the water or not?
LoveItaly's suggestion re your doctor is a valuable one.

I'm guessing the reason islandmom needs to know if the water is fluoridated is because it will determine if the baby should get fluoride drops or not. If the baby gets too much fluoride (in the water plus the drops) that can cause mottling in the baby's teeth.

islandmom - imho I think the only precaution needed would be to boil the local water. (Which I'm pretty sure is no different to what you would be doing normally at home anyway). Unless you are intending on holidaying for months surely a week or two without fluoride isn't going to cause any major upset for the baby's teeth.
