Has anyone used Forfait Loisirs ticket on the <b>SNCF train</b> from Montparnasse to Versailles-Chantiers? All the posts I've read here are with people using it on the RER. We'll be staying near Gare Montparnasse so it'll be easier to take the SNCF train rather than RER-C.

The Forfait Loisirs website says it includes a return &quot;rail ticket.&quot;

Under &quot;How to get there&quot; it gives direction via RER.

It should work no problem, since the whole franchise is operated by the <i>Transilien</i> network.

Trudging from Chantiers to the castle might be harder than changing trains a couple of times from Montparnasse. I would probably take Ligne 6 to Invalides and be done with it.

My parents have done the SNCF train to Versailles before. Since they didn't complain about the walk, I'm sure I can handle that too.

Checking the travel time, metro/RER combo will take at least 40 minutes, whereas SNCF is 20 minutes.

I've been to both stations. I wouldn't call the walk from Chantiers a trudge. It is four tenths of mile further than Gauche. I wouldn't go out of my way stop at Chantiers instead of Gauche to visit Versailles. But if like yk you are staying near Gare Montparnasse I don't think you need to go out of your way to avoid a direct train to Chantiers.

Yes, Transilien is the SNCF owned regional train system in the Paris area. The &quot;SNCF&quot; train is a transilien train.
