How nice to see your posts again - seems quite awhile since I've seen you here! You have always been so helpful with Venice suggestions - food, recipes, restaurants, etc. We will be there the first two weeks in May. Any recent updates? New recipes, suggestions what will be in the market at that time? As always, your suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Hello roamer! I'm going to revive "Franco's Venetian food", and add another restaurant... May is certainly the best period for artichokes, which should keep you entertained for a part of your stay - well, not for your entire two weeks, of course. I'm going to think about it! Just check the Venetian food thread in a few days...

Just for artichoke fans: May is the best season for them in Venice, but for the mediterranean coast, it's winter. They're gone by April.

Perfectly true, yes. The artichokes of Livorno are starting as early as November. But the artichokes of Venice proper are famous, you know (the ones grown on S. Erasmo, the vegetable island), and May is an excellent season for them.
Asparagus is also in season then...
