CW, we are getting one step closer to booking. It seems the boy's Mum is warming up to the idea. We hit her with the topic at just the right time...her birthday.

We were thinking, since we are coming such a long way we should probably hit a couple of games...maybe THFC and Chelsea or take that train ride to Birmingham for a Villa match...

What do you think?

It looks like we would depart April 17 and return April 24. Does that work for any of those fixtures?

Do you have any links to fixture lists?

THFC and CFC are pretty hard to get tickets for - especially a group together. Seriously think about Villa or Fulham.

Wha? I thought for sure you could score 4 for THFC, I mean come on, it's the Spurs!

The Birmingham idea does sound like a good one.

Four tickets - yes. Four together - very hard.

CW, just checking online...

Does this sound like a lot of change for the THFC/Newcastle match?

Tottenham Hotspur - Newcastle United 18-04-2009 Seated Tickets Category 2
Start: 15.00 Price: € 125,00 (£ 102,50) Venue: White Hart Lane, London, United Kingdom

That's the quote on Worldticketshop.com

Think I can do better?

The highest face value ticket at WHL is £65 for premium matches - so they're asking twice the going rate.

Yes I think you can do better.

I'll get a contact address for the ticket address and see what they can do (they have special arrangements for foreigners).

Much thanks and salutations CW. I have also asked the concierge to check into this for me. My eyes popped out when I saw that figure.

Still wondering if there is a midweek match, maybe in the Champions league we might also catch?

Good God, I totally mixed up my dates. We would be leaving SF the 10th returning the 17th. That means no game at the Lane.

Any suggestions for the weekend before?

The gunners and West Ham are at home.

hi thereyet,

you might get tickets for west ham. they had a very exciting draw !against Chelsea today. [it was a weekend for exciting draws with spurs and Man U drawing 0-0 yesterday] no chance for arsenal I'd have thought.

good job you hadn't already splashed out on those agency tickets, isn't it?

good luck,

regards, ann

PS - the cricket is getting really exciting now! [no quips about oxymorons, thank you].

Hi ann, hey I love baseball, cricket was a blast! I'll never forget that day at Lords.

...of course it wasn't a test match.

Yes, I am glad to not have gone off to the ticket agent...yet. Still working on other avenues.

Where is the pitch for West Ham? I will still inquire about the Arsenal game at the least.

Good job for the Spurs v Man U! How exciting.

West Ham play at Upton Park which is on the district line.

As I said the goons do offer a stadium tour and I know people who have been on it and they all thoroughly enjoyed it.

CW, I checked the WHUFC website and they don't list any fixtures beyond January for ticket purchase. Is this a good thing or a bad thing?

Is this 11/04/09 game something you would be interested in. You do like away games, yes?

CW/anne,

Are any of these matches on 13/04/09 watchable, by your estimation? I am looking at the Crystal Palace fixture.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/apr/13/matches

Is the "home" team the first team or the second team? As in...

1 v 2

Yes, the first team is at home. Your only London option would be Queens Park Rangers.

Southampton v Crystal palace would be "doable" - trains from Waterloo to Southampton take around 80 minutes, the ground is about a 15 minute walk from the station - Tickets will not be an issue as the ground holds 32000 and average attendances are about 16K

From the 11th, I see Aston Villa are playing Everton - this might be popular, as both side are likely to be fighting for the European places.

Also the 11th is Portsmouth v West Brom - tickets probably quite easy to get as both teams may be fighting relegation by then - another 75-90 minute train trip - local guide available if beer on offer

QPR v Sheff Weds is watchable IMHO - both have been big teams in the past (especially Wednesday) and still carry some of that cachet.

Ohhhhh, here the home team is the last team on the line.

So the THFC v WHUFC game on 11/04/09 is at the Lane then?

Yes it is. Although I wouldn't bank on it happening on that day at 3pm. It's a prime candidate for being grabbed by the TV companies and also there's no way the police are going to leave the WHUFC fans in Tottenham pubs until 3pm.

It's one of few games that I would urge caution in attending. There is ALWAYS violence at this game. It's easy enough to avoid but it makes for an edgy atmosphere.

It's also a bugger to get tickets for.

I can picture that. Bit of a serious cross town rivalry?

So would it be your suggestion to try for the Villa v Everton match? I've watched both those teams and they seem "watchable". Any problem with rivalry there?

Just noticed that last bit, could be, could be. Thanks for the offer Willit!

Is Aston Villa easily reached by train and how long a trip might that be?
