No, I got my free gift a couple of weeks ago. You can have it if you want. It's a book called "How to Pack."

Peter,

I think all of those who live in Europe and got that email will never get their "free" gift - but their free advice is of course always welcome on this board ;-)

Andre
Zurich, Switzerland

I got the same; it's probably just taking a while to get to France.

I received mine just yesterday - the "How to Pack" book. I suspect yours will take a while to get to France. It took mine a while, since I live in a "foreign" country, too - South Dakota
P.S. I like your website - especially the picture of the snow on the vinyard.

Well if they were sending you what I got -- a set of refrigerator magnets with travel words on them, they've probably gotten stuck to the inside of an airplane if they sent them airmail!!!

I got mine yesterday. A bottle of adhesive solvent to get that duct tape off of my hotel windows.

I got "How to Pack" also, probably at least two weeks ago by now. It might be useful for someone who'd never traveled.

One odd thing about it I didn't like was it came in a small package without any return address or identifying marks on it and I found that kind of creepy, because I don't like opening mail when I don't know who the sender is, especially a small package. I had them send it to my work address (which is a secure facility because I do work for the federal government) because I didn't want them to know my home address, so maybe I am more sensitive to that kind of stuff than others. I don't know why they did that--the big secrecy.

I got the Fodor's pin, to go with my other Fodor's pin, probably around the same time Christina got "How to Pack." As I recall, the package had a Random House/Bertelsmann return address.

Listen, for Danny or other staff lurkers, I want to say thanks for the gift, regardless. Nice touch.

Now, for the print publishing types at Fodors/Random House/Bertelsmann - are you kidding? How many of the "over 100,000 in print" customers paid $10 for the "How to Pack" book? Really?

Patrick.

Planes are made of aluminum ( or aluminium for some European readers).

Anyway, magnets won't stick to them.

However, too many magnet sets in one plane could mess with the navigation equipment, so it ends up in South Dakota, not France.

What's wrong with South Dakota?

Course if you are planning on having hot chocolate at Angelina's South Dakota could be a disapointment.
