I was quoted in two guidebooks, and received both free. Awesome!
It's funny though...the guidebooks I thought I could end up in I didn't, and I was shocked that I ended up in the Paris guidebook because so many people are so much more knowledgable about Paris than I am and thus I hardly ever comment!
The other guidebook I ended up being quoted in was the Eastern Europe book. I assumed that it would be about Croatia or Slovenia, but it was about the Wachau Valley in Austria instead.
Congrats and enjoy your free guidebook!

Sadly, my experience is like Therese's-only times three (Toronto, Nova Scotia and Italy)!
I keep getting promised books in thanks for 'quotes' but nothing ever happens even though I diligently list my mailing address each time...I thought they might be stopped at the border or something as I live in Canada. But I get everything else from US suppliers that I order-I don't get it-the Editors, esp. Kate, are so good in other ways.

I posted this in response to another thread in the lounge but I think it answers some issues raised here:
You are welcome to ask us the exact quote when you respond to the email. It's difficult to extract all of the quotes at once and send them out but I can certainly follow up with you.
In the past we have typically just announced those quoted in the guides just on the site; for the first time we are actually emailing folks mostly because we realize how busy everyone is and it would be easy to miss an announcement on the site.
I wish we could quote everybody---there's certainly plenty to draw from.
We make every effort to change the majority of quotes in each edition; sometimes this is harder to do depending on the guide's schedule. Sometimes the editor passionately loves the quote and thinks it still fits perfectly. (I'm not exaggerating!) Word of Mouth is a *relatively* new feature and your comments and feedback are appreciated.

Hi Stu,
>I don't recall mentioning Florence more than once or twice in the last year. But I bet I've posted to a hundred or more threads about France, ...<
It's the quality, not the quantity, that counts.

Not that your recommendations about France aren't first-class, top-notch, top-drawer and of the first water.

Oh Ira! I am so pleased you have joined the Quoted Club, which is just so awesome! How very kind of Katie to think we had something of value to offer - makes the next trip even more exciting - to find that little rarety, that little special place or scene somewhere in this big wide world!

Our photo contests are unfortunately not open to international residents (though you are all welcome to enter photos if you'd still like to have your photos considered for publication) due to contest rules, which vary by country.
We will however ship the WOM quotees books internationally at no charge. We've sent guides to Chile, Australia, Japan, and South Africa just to name a few countries.

I got the e-mail too! This is my fifth quote. There were 2 quotes in one book, one under my old screen name and one w/ my current one - that was sort of a jackpot
Katie: my email response also has a "techy" question.
