can't comment on the airports as I'm not up on codes, so don't know where ORD is, but BMI is an excellent airline - it has the comfort, food and service that exceeds most of the flag-flying carriers and often has prices to match the low budget no-frills boys. Highly recommended.

I have flown them quite often from UK to Italy, and they have always been excellent. I cannot comment on an Atlantic flight, but based on my previous experiences with the airline, I would have no problems with booking with them again.

We flew bmi from ORD-MAN-EDI a couple of years ago and thought it was fine. Transatlantic flight was on a newer A330 with good seatback entertainment (movies, tv, video games). Service was good on board and on the ground. Food and seat comfort were no better or worse than economy on other airlines. Connecting in MAN was very easy; it took about 20 minutes to get from one gate to the other, including clearing immigration and security. We did miss our connection, but that was due to waiting for an emergency runway repair in Chicago (not the airline's fault). A bmi rep met us in the jetway with new boarding cards and a voucher for food in the terminal while we waited for the next flight. bmi is a Star Alliance member, so I believe most fares will accrue miles and EQMs on United or US Airways - but double-check the specifics of the fare basis with UA or US if this is important to you.

Thanks, for the info. I basically am thinking of flying BMI because the fare quoted for a mid Nov flight was $ 100 less (including fees)than an on UA or AA. I don't fly enough on either to make any difference for FF miles.
