Florence to San Gimignano

We want to do a day trip from Florence to San Gimmy without renting a car. Does anyone know a bus or train route we could take and approx. how long each takes?

You can travel by train and get off at Poggobonsi. From there you can either take a bus or a taxi to San Gimignano.

I'm not sure about the train tickets. Trenitalia you either pick them up at a station or have them mailed free to Italian addresses only.

The hotel told me that tickets can be bought at the train station or tabacchi I believe. But I'm not sure if there will be frequent trains available that you can buy tickets on the spot easily.

I think the total travel time is about 2 hours or so.

Perhaps someone else can give more information.

Shelley - You can get to Poggibonsi by bus or train.
Journey time is similar: about 75 mins.

From Poggibonsi it's 25 mins by bus to San Gim.

You can find Florence-Poggibonsi and Poggibonsi-San Gim. bus timetables on:

http://www.comune.poggibonsi.si.it/c...iro2/index.htm

Train timetables are on:
www.trenitalia.com

This is a local 'R' train. Just get tickets at the station ...

Hope this helps ...

Francophile - No.

There is a 'key' on the link I gave.

'Festivi' services run only on Sundays/ public holidays.

Hope this helps ...
