Hi ibruns01, not knowing your interest, the amount of time you have in Italy, when you are going to be in Italy etc. I seriously do not know how anyone could answer your question.

So I take it you'll be going to both regardless? How many days do you have to split between the 2 places?

Hi Ib,

For 9 days, I suggest 4 in Venice, and 5 in Florence.

From Florence take a daytrip to Siena and/or a daytrip to Bologna.

May I suggest a daytrip to Orvieto from Rome? See http://gram.eng.uci.edu/~alberto/orvieto/en_seeing.html

Have a nice visit.

I agree with ira--no reason you can't do both, though I'd do 4 in Florence with a daytrip to Siena and 5 in Venice. Either way you can't go wrong.

Hi ibruns, I still don't know how anyone can really advise you not knowing what you and your daughter are interested in seeing and visiting. How are you travelling through Italy, by train I would imagine? Are you flying into Rome? Where are you flying home from, Venice perhaps?

I certainly wish you and your daughter a wonderful time in Italy but personally I can't make any suggestions due to the lack of information. Best wishes to both of you.
