Florence/Oltrarno

Going to Florence in Oct 07. Looking at Oltrarno district. is this a good option for Lodging(moderate), eating, and walking to central Florence sights. Anyone have any experience with Hotel Silla, Hotel Scaletta or Pensione Sorelle Bandini? Any recommendations at all for lodging and eating appreciated. Phil

Yes, it is a good option. And the Hotel Silla is in a great location. I have not stayed there but will consider it for next trip. You can read my trip report from a year ago to find out about good eating in the Oltrarno; you can get away from the touristed areas if you are willing to walk a bit.

prpestone,
I stayed at Hotel Scaletta five or six years ago and was happy with both the hotel and location. I really liked Trattoria Bordino just a couple of blocks from Scaletta and went back last year, it was still good.

I think that the Silla is nicer than the Scaletta.
