Florence Museums - How long to allow?

Melissa, I'm wondering if you were also a fan of "The Unofficial Guide to Disney World." A decade ago, it was my Bible. If I recall correctly, in later editions, one of the question/answer pages would include a query about "If everyone knows about these secrets, wouldn't the lines be long again." The answer was similar to yours...most people don't have a plan.

Actually last June when we went to the Uffizi and Accademia, we booked reservations in advance. When we got there the lines were not long to either (we did both in the same day) and thus the reservations would really have not been necessary. If museums are your thing, I'd go for the reservations. Otherwise, I'd take the chance and use the few Euros saved to have a gelato, especially in Florence.

Melissa5-Can you recommend your tour guide for Rome-I have received a quote for $65 euros an hour from someone a friend of a friend of a friend used- we also are interested in two half days for a big family. Did you have a driver as well? This will be our first time in Rome (two of my boys were there with a school trip but are no help planning!) Thanks for any info. Brenda
