Florence: Museo San Marco
San marco museum
Looking for rants and raves. How large is it and would 2 hours do it justice? Best days or times to visit?
I read somewhere to visit the Museo San Marco before the Accademia and try to work in the 4pm daily chants in the cloisters of San Miniato. Good idea?

It's not very large. I don't remember how much time I spent but it was less than 2 hrs, I'm sure. I did take time to sit and contemplate more than once in the visit. I love it; I'm a big Fra Angelico fan. I went on a Sunday morning (in an October) and was virtually alone there (I think most people don't realize it opens early on Sunday). It was amazing. (Note: it's closed on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Sunday of each month per website.) It actually opens pretty early every day (8.15 per website) so that's probably the best time to go, I'd imagine.
The church next door is worth a visit too.

The Museo San Marco and the Accademia are quite close to each other.
San Miniato al Monte is on top of a hill on the other side of the Armo.
No, it is not a good idea to work in San Miniato between San Marco and the Accademia.
But you could perhaps have realized that yourself if you had looked at a map of Florence, which I presume you own.
Or are you relying entirely on this forum to preplan your stay in Florence?
I count at least six or seven different posts from you this morning about Florence.

Eloise, are you trying to be a real kill-joy?
Hey, I'm excited about going and have started gathering info. What is the point of this forum unless people ask questions and exchange information?

Sorry for the confusion.
Yes, I have maps and I do know that San Miniato is across the river. Should have said I'd do the San Marco and the Accademia in the morning and go across the river in the afternoon.
DejaVu, thanks for the help.
Degas, I know you are tongue-cheek lots of times, but I will learn and help others in the future.

Cato,
I'm enjoying your Florence questions. We're planning our second trip to Florence, and you're asking great questions about things we missed the first time and I am also curious about!
Yes, that is what this forum is about. You HAVE researched already enough to know what you are interested in seeing, and now you want real people's opinions.
Thanks,
and have fun planning!
