Hi Jim,
(BTW, is Tony your cousin?)

You might want to try the Hotel Pitti Palace at 2 via Barbadori in Florence. It's right near the Arno. When I was in school in Florence, this was where I would have friends & relatives stay, while I was "dormed" with other students.

Buon Viaggio,
BC

Hello Jim,
We agree the Hermitage was perfect! It has a rooftop terrace-Where you can have cocktails after a long day. The view is the Arno and Pointe di Vecchio one way the other roof tops. In fact, after day 1 the bartender remembered what we liked and asked if we would like the usual on the terrace!!! Great service. Also, the arrange for a driver one day- Our drivers name was Marcello-with the silver Mercedes great deal and wouderful experience. The hotel was $150.00 USD in March 2001. Ask for room 602 it is on the floor with the terrace. Larger room and very private. We can not wait to go back!! Have a great time.
