I'm sure you know that the cost of ALL sorts of fuel - Gasoline/petrol/heating oil etc has risen. Av Gas is no different. Adding to that is the fact that the demand for flights is much higher - has risen a LOT in the last 3-4 years. I'm actually surprised fares aren'r even higher.
But fuel prices are pretty volatile because the shipping routes/Mid-East situation changes day by day.
(We can discuss why fares/fuel are higher - just can't start political discussions/arguments )

Yep. Noticed it long before the current insanity. Will probably only get worse.

I talked to a customer service rep with IcelandAir about why ticket prices have doubled in the last two years, she told me the middle east crisis is a part of it but she also said that increased labor costs have had more to do with the increase in prices. That and too much demand compared to the number of flights.
