Flight Not Included in Package. Should I Buy 2 Travel Insurance Policies?

Hi everyone,

I am new to the forums, and new to booking international travel. I recently (Jan 12th) made a down payment on a group trip/tour through Paris. The package includes the hotel, some meals and sightseeing. The flight is not included. As I am on a very tight budget, I am holding off on purchasing the flight until I can find a ticket I can afford.

I have been online researching travel insurance policies and, from what I gather, any policy I purchase at this time will cover the current cost of the trip. Will I need to purchase another policy after I purchase my flight?

I appreciate any help you can provide!

Thanks,

Have you looked on insuremytrip.com for comparison shopping?
If being covered for "pre-existing conditions" matters (yours or someone you've left behind), you should buy your policy within 10-15 days of initial payment.
However, you can buy a policy to cover just that initial payment and then increase the amount of coverage on that same policy when you complete payment for that trip - including flights.
Give insuremytrip a call and they'll explain the process to you.
Good luck.

You don't need two policies. You buy one policy to cover the total amount including air. Not all policies require you to purchase before final payment to cover pre-existing conditions. And certainly you would not want to spend as much on insurance as the deposit. But certainly when you buy flights you will want insurance then. Although whoever you booked tour through should have contract flights that you may reserve now with the deposit and pay for with the final payment.

Check insuremytrip.com and square mouth.com for information about your options and comparisons of policies.

As NGail said, you can INCREASE your coverage as your costs increase, but you may have a limited window during which to purchase ANY coverage -- so check now!

Only YOU can decide whether it is something you want/need to do.

Enjoy your trip!
