777 has a different seating arragement. 3-5-3 in coach a 676 is setup 2-3-2

777 are pretty new models so it should be a nice plane. if you are on united it is likey that you will have a tv on chair in front of you.

I like 767's better just beacuse the seating you can never get stuck in the middle of 5 people. 777 are bigger planes

What airline is it?

I've flown 777's (on American) quite a few times roundtrip from JFK to London or Paris. As you know, American offers more legroom, but in general, I found the planes cleaner, more comfortable, and less prone to turbulence. From what I remember, American's configuration was 2-5-2 in coach.

Giving generic descriptions of airliner seating comfort is risky because seating pitch on any given aircraft is dependent on the design specifications of the airline. Comfort depends on who ordered the seats.

To date, I have flown in B777's as operated by Delta and by Air France on the Paris - Atlanta route.

To describe the comfort on those 4 flights, one word suffices: miserable.
The seats were narrow side to side, close together back to front, and poorly padded top to bottom. I will not fly either airline again unless I have to because of compelling circumstances.

Compared with the 2 - 3 - 2 seating I have experienced on 767 aircraft operated by KLM and by US Airways, the 777 was worse. On the 767 if you are on the "two seat" side, you can shift around particularly if there is no fear of "getting too close" to your seat companion.

I don't think there is a "good" on these routes in steerage class, but there are definitely degrees of misery. The 777 flights I have taken were the second worst I have experienced so far, but they are very close to the worst ones I have experienced. Currently, the two that currently define the bottom rung of the misery ladder are an Atlanta - Paris flight on a Delta MD 11 I took in 1999 and a Northwest 737 flight I took from Minneapolis to Atlanta in 2002. [On the NW flight I was on the next to last row next to the galley.]

The 777's come close to being the worst; they finished only slightly better because they were somewhat quieter than the MD 11.
[I exclude these noisy propeller driven commuter aircraft from this measurement. They would win the "worst award" if included.]

I hope your flights are better.

I love 777's. Have flown to Europe on Delta 777 in coach and it was nice. They have individual tv screens. Best 777 flight was on American where I got upgraded to 1st class and had a seat that converted to an entire bed to lay down in.

The 767 is the single most coach passenger friendly airplane in the sky.It has to be 85%full in the back before the middle seats of the 3seat sections are filled.Of course with all the rearrangements the airlines are making, looks like a lot of flights are going to go out full. But just a side note anywayz.

Returned from Rome on a 777 with Alitalia. We thought that the leg room was better, there are individual screens for all with tons of things to see and hear. Talking to the crew, we found out that they love this plane for its roomier configuration. Nothing can help the food however. This was our least uncomfortable flight to or from Italy yet. Actually there were a lot of empty seats which helped. Many people were stretched out on the middle 3 seats.

I hate 777s, I deliberately try to avoid them if I have a choice. It isn't the 2-3-2 etc alternatives, but they just seem cramped to me in general, and the luggage space seems worse than other airlines. All transatlantic flights seem to have TV screens now that I've been on. Certain airlines have less legroom on 777s than other models, also (such as BA). I prefer 767s or Airbuses, if I have a choice. Most planes have about the same amenities, though. I don't like the thing BA sticks on the headrest that sticks out and gives me a sore neck, I think that's on their 777s.

BA has refitted all their 777's to have little foot rests that come down from the seat in front of you--definitely makes a difference to me. Also, they changed the headrests so that the "wings" on the side come forward if you like and are firm enough to lean on.

All in all, I think it's a good change.

Delta's 777 coach seating is the worst! We have never been so jammed as we were Atlanta/Paris & Paris/Atlanta. You had to pull up using the seat in front of you, then, leaning backward, cobble step sideways. And that was just getting up. We are not large people, either. We've vowed never to fly Delta's international 777's again, unless the spacing, tilt, etc, is changed.

The American Airlines 777 on the LHR to ORD leg of our last flight was, without a doubt, the best coach flight I've ever been on. I'd take 8 hours on that flight over 4 on one of these domestic flights.

On the other hand, the 16 hours on a Air New Zealand 767 (plus 4 from STL to LAX) to our trips to Melbourne, Aus is mind and butt numbing. ANZ is a nice airline, but the seat pitch thing is right on. Just sedate me and wheel me off the plane for that ordeal.

Just a note of warning...Lufthansa's 747 (3-4-3) doesn't have individual tv's on their seats. I heard they are upgrading all their aircrafts but there weren't any on our flights. It was VERY VERY tight and I'm a small person 5'5" 120lbs and it was small for me.
