It sounds as if it is a lot more difficult to snag a table there than it was even three years ago. I got mine by phoning in July, I believe. By then the month of September was all booked but we were able to get a table for lunch on a bridge weekend in late October. I found it much more difficult to book a table at Ibai, and had to phone several times after being hung up on once or twice! After eating at both, and both were fabulous beyond measure, although we could not even touch the fish course at Etxebarri and told them not too fire it, the one I will return to is Ibai. Although I will not turn down an invite to either...any time, just let me know and I will be there, with bells on!

Funny that I´ve been several times to Etxebarri (in Basque, "the new house", a common surname over here), most of them invited by guests, and have never found it interesting or good at all...Even when it was just a grill restaurant, off the Michelin route, I thought of it as a medium class restaurant. Well, it must be me...
