Fish n Chips in London
My mom is looking forward to eating traditional Fish n Chips while we are in London, wrapped in paper if possible. Anyone have favorites to recommend? We're staying at County Hall, but of course we'll be all over during touring!

It's my understanding, from listening to Coronation Street that it's no longer legal to service fish and chips in newspaper - can this be true - for years i though that was so cute.
A traditinal chippie near County Hall is in front of Waterloo Station - the "Fishcoteque" - better quality than some and a sit down restaurant. Not gourmet but traditional fare. Grease a la mode.

Type in the phrase "Fish n Chips" into the "Search" box, click and you will get many threads with FNC recommendations. Here's one example:

The North Sea Fish Restaurant is at the arrow due south of St. Pancras Station on this map:

They serve the best halibut I have ever eaten.

Thanks for the tips. Where can I find the Fishoteque, is it obvious just in front of the station? That seems very central. I'll keep the North Sea Restaurant in my notes as well! Its too bad about the paper, silly what we set our hearts on, isn't it?

Yes the Fishcoteque has a bright sign in front of it - at Waterloo you take the escalators down to street level, the the McDonalds and the Fishcoteque is just opposite - i ate there once and this is typical traditional unpretentious English fish and chips. So it's on the main road on the east side of Waterloo. Around the corner on Lower Marsh Road, on another side of the station are a few more chippies - these ones very typical and basic fish and chip places.
