Jean was one of many of you to suggest. I wasn't able to do it myself but this TA, like all of you: BLESSED US!!! I could collectively hug all of you!!

We will have a day at the end in Rome--which is inadequate. However, this is much more sensible routing!!!!

Should I begin a new posting in Barcelona to get your wise recommendations for Barcelona?

Barcelona:

I can highly recommend medieval and modern Hotel Neri in the heart of the Gothic quarter, yet very tranquile. The 39 sqm Junior suite has got a king size bed. Our best hotel experience ever after decades of intensive traveling in Spain. Wonderful roof-top terrace. 100 meters from the cathedral. 20 % off if payed more than 30 days in advance (not refundable). A great inhouse restaurant, and the breakfast will be no problem. Right on the small and beautiful San Felipe Neri square with its tragic Civil War history. http://www.hotelneri.com/en/rooms/junior-suite

Thanks again; will check that!! Hotel Colon was booked! TA was great help on re-route of trip but she must be really busy (they said she was buying a house!) I told her Hotel Colon. She did send email but it's booked.

I read where Eixample was most desirable neighborhood! Gothic, not so--but what do I know? I don't!

Hotel Neri is 250 meters from Hotel Colon. Hotel Colon is a Barcelona classic right in the heart of the city with thousands of tourists on the doorstep. Hotel Neri is another world, tranquile down a secluded alley, several hundred hundred years older as well as cutting edge modern, and it reflects the playful but dead serious Barcelona perfection you can find in Gaudí and Miró and in places like Boquería and Tickets.
