hi, Morgan,
this question really has been done to death. there are loads of threads about this subject.
Parisians wear just the same as you - jeans, non-jeans, sneekers, non-sneekers. NO-ONE CARES EXCEPT YOU.
for one week, you need 2-3 pairs trousers [allowing for changes of temperature] 3-4 tops, a jumper, two pairs shoes, the usual underwear.
have a great trip,
regards, ann

An article I read (in French) in a French internet women's magazine said you can wear jeans anywhere, EVEN TO A JOB INTERVIEW - provided they fit your body-type decently and you wore a good shirt (white and tailored was suggested) and either heels (pumps) or dress-flats (didn't specify Taryn Rose, Thingorjus). So if you are confident you can pull it off.....
From personal experience (I am there twice a year for a couple of weeks), I'd say if you are under 25, wear whatever you'd wear hear, but don't expose your belly or your underwar; otherwise, anything goes on Sat/Sun for casual activities like grocery shopping. In general, too, the attire in some of the Left Bank arrondisements (particularly the 5th and 6th, is much more informal (and sometimes quirky) than - for example - over near PlasVendome, where you see nice business attire (women in ArmaniB suits, etc.)

Sorry I hit post by accident so did not correct typos, but I am sure you can figure it out.
Do hope we hear advice from Thingorjus, though....
Question for annhig: by "jumper" - do you mean what we Yanks would call a sweater?

Morgan-- there are already about 559 posts which discuss this exact question at length. You may want to browse and refer to those.
Except for the outdoors, sport type activities, I think Jeans are very bad traveling clothing. They are heavy to pack, take a long time to dry if wet, not really versatile clothing, and aren't really "breathy" type. Unless you plan to run horses, climb, or hike in Paris, for a one-week trip in Sept I would suggest three Dockers-type pants in dark colors, matching short-sleeves blouses and bring a dark jacket and a scarf (better yet, buy one in Paris!)to dress it up at night. Black pair of comfortable shoes, sandals are not a great idea either, unless they are closed-toes type and comfortable cushion insole.

Pack 2 pair comfortable shoes along with nice looking pants and tops. Yes they wear jeans in Paris, but I don't think they are good travel clothes because of their weight. Fabrics other than denim work better.
You'll want to have something to layer (sweater or light jacket). Just pick a favorite few things that you'd wear at home in similar weather. Make sure the colors mix and match, and that the fabrics pack without wrinkling too much.
