First trip to Italy

We're spending 2 weeks in Pisa Italy and want to travel to Royal Deeside, Scotland. Anyone have any ideas, I.e. train, car, plane?

Welcome to Fodors!

I can't imagine that anything but flying makes sense.

There appear to be a number of one-stop flights to Aberdeen from Pisa, and that's the only way that makes sense, as elberko said.

If you want to go straight thru planes of course. But if you want to take several days trains could be nice- end up in Amsterdam which has ferries to Newcastle. For lots on trains check www.seat61.com; www.budgeteuropetravel.com and www.ricksteves.com.

You could also take an overnight train Pisa -Milan (board night train here) - wake up in Paris and take train to Scotland -spend the day in London and if young and spirited hop another night train to several Scottish towns, including Aberdeen.

But unless you want to see northern Europe or London for a few days best of course to fly.

www.whichbudget and www.skyscanner.com for low down on which airlines fly between cities and helps find discount airlines.

Are you looking for the quickest most direct way (air)?

Or you want to make a side trip out of it (train, bus, rental car)?

Yes -suze's questions are vital to answering this -if the quickest it is of course flying. If you want to take time how much time do you have to go overland- again if none discussion over -fly.
