Florence is pretty easy - the duomo and the river give a good sense of direction. A decent map and you won't get lost.

gregs317-- use Google Maps to get a feel for Florence streets. I did this to learn the way from the station to my hotel and it worked like a charm! My sister was so impressed that I knew exactly where to turn, etc...!

"I wouldn't bother to leave Florence to go wine tasting"

A visit to the wineries in Tuscany is a highlight of our trips to Florence. Yes, there are some wonderful enoteca's but we like to visit the producers, sample the wares and ship wine home. We do visit Italy primarily for the wine and food and would not pass up these day trips which we always plan for and very much enjoy.

"While Florence is a fine city and I enjoyed it, Paris is much better in almost every way."

Different strokes as they say. I have been to Paris 5x and Florence 18 and will continue to return to Florence again and again. Paris just is not high on my list of special places.

I would do Paris, Barcelona and Venice, 4 nights in each.
