First-timer/HM Itinerary help please

This is my first post for my first trip to Italy for my honeymoon. I was hoping you kind folks could help me out with my itinerary.
We are going to be in Italy for about 1 1/2 weeks, flying in and out of Rome. Since this is our first trip, we realize that we are going to miss much, but would like to try to visit the main things (museums, cathedrals, etc).
We are planning a few days in Rome, would love to see some of Florence and Tuscany, know we want to see Siena and would like to see the Amalfi Coast and Pompeii. Is this feasable to visit so many places in so short a time? Is the best way to travel by train or bus? Could you recommend good places to stay (around $150-200 w/ private bathrooms is the main criteria)?

Thank you in advance for all your help and any suggestions you may have.

You will never be able to do that in 10 days so you need to choose between the Amalfi Coast and Tuscany/Florence. I personally prefer Tuscany over Amalfi but that is just a personal preference.

If you choose to do Tuscany I would recommend renting a car since that is the best way to see that area. You might do 3 days Rome, 4 days Tuscany and 2 days in Florence then head back to Rome for your flight out. You would want to drop your car in Florence since there is no need to have a car in any city, then take the train back to Rome. Venice is in my opinion someplace not to be missed and you could also do that instead of Florence but that will add on more travel time. Any chance of changing your flight to return from another city so you don't have to backtrack?

Best of luck on your upcoming wedding! My hubby and I are also going to Italy for part of our honeymoon. I've found it helpful to do a search above and try Rom hotels etc. There are tons of posts with info....

Also , try to map out how many dyas you want in each city and post a set itinerary...I got lots of advice on mine, probably want 3ish days in each place at the least.

Hope this helps!
Jamie

try www.trenitalia.com for train info, I belive that is the cheapest..but I havent looked into buses...trains are faster and cheap in Italy. Also try www.eurocheapo.com for cheap hotels.

Hi
I don't think that you will be able to do all you want in 1 1/2 weeks. My wife and I have arranged a similar trip over 3 weeks.
Since you are flying into Rome, I suggest either a few days in Florence with visits to Sienna and Fiesole
OR
A few days on the Amalfi Coast, staying in Sorrento, Positano or Priano.

Unless you are avid museum, cathedral, etc. people the Almalfi coast seems to me to be best for honeymoom. Recommend the Hotel Posiden in Positano for you. Lovely rooms, pretty views, lovely pool, good food, excellent spa. Do a search for other recommendations of this hotel on this board.
