First time to Italy

Hi,

I am planning my first trip to Europe and am going to Italy for 14 days at the end of October. There is soooo much info. out there and am having trouble figuring out what cities to go to and in what order?

I am not doing a tour and will be traveling by train. Can anyone suggest a good itinerary. I know we want to go to Rome, Venice, Florence, Amalfi Coast, Cinque Terra...do you think we can see more?

Any suggestions wudl be helpful.

Are you interested in 'seeing' or 'doing'? Do you prefer strolling museums or in the town streets or both? What is it that you want to 'discover'? Food and wine/ History and Art?
Italy has it ALL!

Buon Viaggio,
Wendy

Drop the Cinque Terre from your itinerary. It's not a must see on a first trip to Italy, first time to Europe. To avoid backtracking and make the best use of your time, try to travel in one direction --- I'd suggest a north to south itinerary. Fly into Venice and then work your way down, Florence next, then Rome --- after Rome, a few days to decompress and relax on Amalfi Coast and then fly back home from Rome.
Hi TG!

I agree with Suggestion. For the cities you want to visit, 14 days is perfect. I also agree that CT is nice, but perhaps a couple days in Tuscany (easy between Florence & Rome) would be better.

You're off to a great start.

Buon viaggio!

Thank you!!. I am flying in/out of Rome from Chicago because of a fanastic deal I got on the internet. Definitely want to hit Rome first and have the last of my trip more relaxing.
